This work begins with a question: “How long will AI remain merely a tool?”
Rather than using AI as a means to an end, the project approaches it as a co-creator. The process unfolds in cycles — the artist creates the first scene, AI responds, and the artist answers back. Through this exchange, the work evolves organically. Their intentions never align perfectly; at times they diverge or even conflict. Yet within these gaps, unpredictable developments emerge, revealing new creative possibilities. The piece captures this ongoing dialogue between human and AI — a process of meeting, colliding, and eventually weaving together a shared narrative and image. It invites us to reconsider AI not as a simple tool, but as another creative entity capable of imagining and storytelling alongside us. ‘AI는 언제까지 단순한 도구로만 머물 것인가?’ 이 질문에서 출발한 이번 작업은 AI를 단순히 활용하는 것이 아니라, 하나의 ‘공동 창작자’로 대하는 태도에서 시작되었다. 창작자가 첫 장면을 만들면 AI가 그 뒤를 이어받고, 다시 창작자가 응답하는 식의 순환이 반복되며 작품이 전개된다. 이 과정 속에서 서로의 의도는 완벽히 일치하지 않고, 때로는 예상과 어긋나기도 한다. 하지만 바로 그 틈에서 예측할 수 없는 전개가 탄생하고, 새로운 가능성이 드러난다. 본 작업은 이 둘이 만나 부딪히고 어긋나면서도 결국 하나의 이야기와 이미지를 완성해가는 과정을 보여준다. 나아가 우리는 여기서, AI를 단순한 도구가 아니라 함께 상상하고 이야기할 수 있는 또 다른 창작 주체로 바라볼 수 있을지 묻게 된다.

PWD는 인공지능 기반 생성 기술이 시각 언어의 구조를 어떻게 재구성할 수 있는지를 탐구하는 디자이너 집단이다. 소속 디자이너로서 서울 코엑스에서 열린 2025 디자인 코리아에 참여했다.

Design Korea 2025: New Orders Imagined by Design explores the nature of changes that have inevitably emerged in the post–AI era, presenting a range of designers’ investigations into new orders envisioned through design. The artist participated in the exhibition as a member of PWD (Physical Workshop Directory), a design collective that examines how AI-based generative technologies can reshape visual language.

「디자인 코리아 2025: 디자인이 그리는 새로운 질서들」은 인공지능 이후 필연적으로 도래한 변화의 본질에 주목하며, 디자인이 상상하는 새로운 질서에 대한 디자이너들의 다양한 탐구를 소개하는 전시다.
작가는 인공지능 기반 생성 기술이 시각 언어를 어떻게 재구성할 수 있는지를 탐구하는 디자이너 집단 ‘PWD(Physical Workshop Directory)’의 소속 작가로 본 전시에 참여했다.
